The spam rate today is the lowest since September 2003. According to data that Symantec collects from 57.6 million "attack sensors" spread across 157 countries and thousands of events logged every second, the overall spam rate has dropped to below 50% percent for the first time in over a decade.
Phishing is also down this month even though there are now a total of 57.6 million malware variants in the wild, up 12.2 million from May, being churned out by VXer factories. However nearly half a million ransomware attacks were detected last month with Indian businesses being increasingly hit by such attacks.
